4-star Georgian hotel with live traditional Irish music in Dublin city centre

Dining & Entertainment

The Castle Vaults bar and restaurant occupies the original 18th-century wine cellars, with an exposed vaulted ceiling. Live Traditional Irish Music is performed every night in this space, alongside a pre-theatre menu and an evening à la carte menu. The Old Music Shop restaurant overlooks Findlater's 19th-century Gothic Revival Church and offers pizza, pasta, salads, and gourmet sandwiches all day.

Rooms & Interiors

Guest rooms are individually designed, each featuring direct dial telephones, tea and coffee making facilities, and hairdryers. The hotel's public areas retain original sweeping staircases, crystal chandeliers, antique mirrors, and marble fireplaces from the Georgian period. Family rooms accommodate up to four guests, and the property includes multiple lounges with board games and puzzles.

Location & Transport

The hotel is a 2-minute walk from O'Connell Street and within walking distance of Temple Bar, Croke Park, and the Hugh Lane Art Gallery. The Aircoach Dublin Airport Bus stops a 3-minute walk away, and the hotel operates its own secure private car park. Guests can reach the Abbey Theatre, Gate Theatre, and James Joyce Cultural Centre on foot.

Dining & Breakfast

Breakfast offers both a Continental buffet and a cooked Full Irish breakfast served in separate dining rooms. Kids' meals and special diet menus are available upon request. The hotel has two on-site restaurants, a coffee house on site, and room service for evening meals.

Guest Services & Accessibility

A 24-hour front desk provides concierge service, tour desk assistance, express check-in/check-out, and luggage storage. Babysitting and child services can be arranged, and the hotel provides packed lunches for early departures. The property includes a lift for upper floors, outdoor furniture, and a sun terrace.

Charming Georgian Ambiance

irish breakfast perfect location
I enjoyed the full Irish breakfast each morning. The number 16 bus from the airport stops almost right outside the place.
Windows are wood and do not shut completely. I heard everything happening on the street such as people talking and cars.

mixed experience

sewage smell google review
the reception staff were friendly and helpful.
my room smelled like sewage at certain times of the day (i really don't know why!). i found multiple people had the same problem after checking google reviews. closing the bathroom door and opening the windows helped a little, but it wasn't a good experience to have such a strong smell during my entire stay.

Road-Facing Room Issues

street noise breakfast setup
The location was quite central, easy enough to walk to most places I wanted to visit.
My room faced the street and unfortunately had single-pane windows (I found this out the hard way). This resulted in significant noise, particularly from early morning buses, disrupting sleep. The included breakfast had an odd setup, with the continental options on a different floor than the cooked meals.

historic charm and cozy comforts

unique character comfy seating live music
i found the staircases fun to explore, each turn revealing unique character.. the hotel provided several comfy seating areas with books to peruse, a tranquil escape. i especially enjoyed the live music nightly in the pub, a good bonus. the staff were amazing, very friendly and helpful .
i found the floors were a bit uneven, a small trade-off for the hotel's historic charm. this sometimes made navigating the hallways slightly challenging, especially with luggage.

A stay with some minor inconveniences

historic atmosphere charming sitting rooms helpful staff dated room uneven flooring banging noise
The hotel has a charming historic atmosphere. I appreciated the connected Georgian manor houses. Sitting rooms and staircases had lovely decor. I found the staff helpful.
My room felt a bit dated. I also noticed uneven flooring. I was woken early by a loud banging noise one morning. The noise repeated frequently for a couple of hours.
